(Note 2: My title is especially dumb because apparently you can have ASMR (an ASMR?) from visual stimuli. Also, sidenote, some people get the tingles when other people just look at them and that’s wild.)
The other day, I was watching a couple of streamers react to Say My Name. When it reached the first chorus and Mingi spins into position with so much charisma and attitude just before launching into the “driving dance,” I couldn’t help but think, “Damn, that’s satisfying.” There was just something about it that hit my occipital lobe just right. (Jk, I don’t know how the brain works.)
So naturally, as is my way, I tumbled right down the rabbit hole because why do real work if you could rewatch all your favorite Ateez performances for “research” instead? As a result, here are 12 other [mostly] tiny bits of performances that satisfy my soul.
Go Ahead and Make It Look Effortless, Why Don’t You. This was my favorite performance from that God-forsaken show for a variety of reasons. But this particular segment is just so bouncy and in sync that it made all the hell worth it (is what I tell myself).
My Bias is Showing [Off]. A really delicious center Jongho moment is unfortunately rare but always worth celebrating. Also, while we’re on the subject. . .
It’s Not About the Abs, I Promise. There’s something about the tightly controlled arm movements coupled with the shoulder bounce (I hope all those actually knowledgeable about dance are enjoying my precise terminology, lol) that just feels so right and good.
He’s Literally Just Standing There. And yet, I am an emotional wreck.
That Giggling You Hear? It’s Me. Every. Single. Time.
I Am Questioning My Zombie Apocalypse Survival Squad Choices. They are Yunho and Jongho, btw. But this choreo sequence has me thinking “Yeosang, though. . .”
It’s a Team Building Exercise But Make It Dramatic. I was lucky enough to watch San do this in person (let’s pour one out for me and my lingering post-concert depression), but this particular performance had a little extra oomf.
Excuse Me, Sir–I See You Working Your Way Into My Bias List. This entire fancam is a gem and should be revered, but his little sashay upstage right after he gets up from his floor work is the cutest.
We’re All Agreed He’s Made of Sunshine and Rubber, Correct? Like, how does he bend like that?
The Moment When I Finally Started Paying Attention to Jung Wooyoung. My excuse is that I was still a relatively new Atiny when ZFP1 happened. And you know how Ateez is–they’re literally always up to something and it’s easy to get distracted. All I know is that this final chorus happened and I was like, “Okay, but Wooyoung. . . “
If You Have a Fan, You Must Also Have Attitude. It’s the Rules. No surprises here. I think we were all ready to swear allegiance to our Pirate Captain in that moment.
And now, what are your favorite bits of choreo (or really, any moments from their performances)? I wish to waste more time by watching all your suggestions.
