While we normally bring our music mixes to you on Monday, this is a special edition highlighting the babies, and specifically Koong, which is only available on YouTube, so instead of the usual embedded Spotify playlist, we are bringing you an embedded YouTube Playlist.
xikers, henceforth known as the babies, pre-release video is out, so I've gathered some YouTube videos to compliment it. There's disagreement over whether YouTube playlist count as official streams, so do with that what you will, but either way you and everyone else should listen to Koong because it's great.
playlist highlights
This playlist features mostly xikers music, stages, and covers, but the videos are interspersed with some additional music videos and stages from other artists, including but not limited to ATEEZ. But my highlights, I'll only talk about the xikers videos.
Note: the traditional wisdom for YouTube streaming is to watch 3-4 videos between each watch of the video you're streaming. Most people will try to add videos from different channels (instead of just only watching KQ videos for example) and even non-kpop videos intermixed. Most people recommend not streaming through a playlist, but this playlist does attempt to incorporate a variety of videos to meet other accepted streaming knowledge.
The song that inspired this playlist is, no surprise, also a highlight. This pre-release performance video is all the things that I've loved about xikers so far. It has a bit of a sense of fun in the lyrics and is obviously performed well. I'm obsessed with it. The full album releases on August 2nd, and we will post a more traditional Spotify streaming list sometime around then.
While I'm sure most people already know this song, I'm going to highlight it anyways because it is, as of right now, one of my favorite releases this year. It is so listenable. The pre-chorus is so pretty, and the chorus has such a nice beat. But I would bet that 'Run' on their new album is going to top it.
I also included a stage of Pentagon performing Shine on this playlist too because I think it's fun to watch different groups perform the same song. I love watching groups bring their own colors, and xikers absolutely does that here. It's the same song, but it's unmistakably xikers version. And I'm a sucker for a dance break that goes hard, so I love this.
I'm sorry but this album is going to be fantastic. Just like Eden-ary always does, they've done it again. Every song sounds like it's going to speak to my soul. It's hard to even pick a stand out favorite because they're all so... just great. But I think I'm going to be absolutely obsessed with Run. It sounds like the OST for a soaring coming of age story.
