What to watch when you miss Jongho

Updated: Aug 2, 2023

It's Wednesday, and that means that we're here to personally recommend some of our favorite ATEEZ videos. So, whether you're just getting into ATEEZ or it's been awhile since you've let yourself sit back and enjoy their content, we've got you covered. A playlist of all of the videos discussed will be linked at the end.

Jongho and Seonghwa watch TV

Outlaw has been my Jongho era.

I have been suffering here since, well, I'm not even sure when it started. Perhaps before Outlaw. Perhaps I've always been in my Jongho era.

All I know is that I've been suffering under the weight of a perpetual state of missing and being overwhelmed by Jongho, and it needs to end here and now. With this playlist. Because I am fairly certain that the purest and most simple form of happiness in the world is listening to Jongho's laugh (or, in a pinch, just looking at a his perfect and precious smile), I have decided to gift everyone, but mostly myself, with this playlist designed to bring you all the best of Jongho so that we can all begin to heal.

While there is much great content to explore out there, this playlist takes a diverse approach to the available Jongho content, featuring both heartwarming, fun, and beautiful moments.

This video is pretty much my standard go to for when I want some Jongho content. For a period of time after it dropped, I watched this video every single morning. Featuring a little over twenty minutes of song covers intermixed with interesting interview tidbits, Jongho's voice and personality really shine here.

It’s a baby Jongho, and the beginning is filmed on a potato maybe, but he’s so adorable, it’s fine. He goes for a little soup date with his manager and brings us along for the ride. It is literally just him and the manager talking in the car for almost ten minutes about things Jongho likes. And then he sings several times. Which is perfect.

This is Jongho’s second vlog, and it has a totally different vibe while also still being very much just Jongho and his manager hanging out. He takes us to the gym with him and then walks around outside for a bit. Some highlights: the weather, the sun on his hair, the LA scenery.

Jongho on Imitation is an absolute triumph, and it is a literal crime that I can’t watch a new drama starring Jongho. I want a comedy romance for the ages, and I believe that Jongho is the person to give it to me. In this logbook, starting around 5:30, they go on Jongho’s final day of filming, and you can just tell how much he enjoyed working on the set. And the most adorable part is where Wooyoung comes with some of the staff to throw him a little congratulations party. Spoiler: Jongho loves it.

In Jongho's 5th JjongST, he covers 'There for You,' by Kim Na Young from the drama Our Beloved Summer. Basically all of JjongST, and all of his covers generally, are fantastic (sometimes even better than the originals) and worth watching all the time, especially if you are in the mood for a melo song. But I like this one for the little acting moment he gives us at the end, proving that I’m right: he is destined to bring us a comedy romance for the ages.

I have a deep love for just watching Jongho being competent at things because it does seem like he can do basically anything. Here, he proves he's also adapt at planting rice seedlings because of course he is. Towards the end, he even sings some trot music at the graduation ceremony they throw, and it's all very heartwarming.

At over an hour, this is a long one, but it is also some of my favorite content type: playing silly games. And it's fun to see the dynamics of all of the members playing off each other, especially when they're competing like this. Towards the end, there is a dance challenge in which Jongho goes on to dance to literally every track played like the king he is.

Gravity is on my list of perfect songs, and the live performance is an actual gift. His voice is sooo...

One of my favorite things is hearing people talk about how great Jongho is, and following Jongho's performance of Gravity I thought hearing these two vocal coaches talk about his voice would be just the balm that everyone needs. They're reacting to Jongho's solo performance on Immortal Songs, which I would've added to this playlist, but I assume watching it is what got you in this sorry state of missing Jongho.

But you know how when you listen to Jongho sing, you feel… overwhelmed? Unable to speak? Like perhaps you should just crawl back into bed because there’s nothing left for you to do today? Well, it's nice to have people put to words why you feel that way. I also recommend them talking about the Kingdom Love Poem stage because the way they loved Jongho just still makes my heart buzz.

Jongho's cover of J.Y. Park's 'Swing Baby' is unique amongst Jongho's covers in that it's not the type of song he normally performs, which is part of the reason I'm including it. His voice is at times growly, with such animation and liveliness, and of course, beautiful. He performed at as part of his reveal on King of the Masked Singer, and when he takes his mask off around the 1:30 mark, it's impossible to not smile with him.

And then, for our final missing Jongho video, I wanted another OT8 that shows off the ATEEZ dynamic, but still with plenty of fun Jongho moments. This drinking content episode of Wanteez fits the bill pretty well. At the beginning we get the Jongho x Phantom of the Opera crossover content I crave, and by the end, we have him singing into his drink bottle.

I hope your heart is healed with this Jongho content, and that like Jongho's gummy smile, it brought you a simple and uncomplicated form of happiness. For your convenience, you can find the entire playlist here.
